The History of Dafoe Trucking

Serving Calgary since 1960

Dafoe Trucking started out in 1958 in Kitimat, B.C. as C & D Trucking (Carter and Dafoe). Dafoe eventually bought Carter out resulting in the new name.

In 1960, the business moved to Calgary, Alberta with 4 trucks. We parked and did maintenance on those trucks in the back alley behind our house. When 4 trucks turned to 6, we were forced to arrange parking at the Mohawk Service station where we also fueled up. Expanding to 10 trucks meant renting our own shop and, eventually, buying a piece of land. On it, we built a 4800 sq. ft. building for maintenance and hired a full-time mechanic.

In 2006, again short on parking and shop space, we bought a bigger lot and built a larger building. Dafoe is now situated comfortably in a 12,000 sq. ft. building on a 4-acre lot. We run 38 trucks and employ 4 full-time mechanics.
